The internet also known as the world wide web, is said by Nicholas Carr to cause distraction and makes us stupid while Steven Johnson believes it to be a great break through. I am with Steven Johnson. He clearly makes his point that most ideas come from the collaboration of two ideas, which i agree with completely. One can have their own ideas yet it is when others get involved and give their input do those ideas become better. The internet is a way of connecting with people, researching, and getting the latest news. There are distracting pages on the internet, but the distraction is a good thing it can lead you to a new idea you never thought about or give you incite on another idea. Every page on the internet makes you think in some form, and if you’re thinking then you can't be classified as stupid. Humanity has come a long way from the printing press to the internet, to say the internet makes one stupid is not justifying it. I think it is great to have so much information at your fingertips. To the older generation it seems ridiculous to go to the internet to get information. They would rather you go find a book. That is because that is how they were raised. For me, I was raised with the internet, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with it to me. Needing to know something or even to get a different perspective on my idea or an idea i heard going to the internet is normal and great. Every day the world gets more advanced, and soon the need for books is going to die, after all we are already getting those electronic book readers and there isn't a need for a real book anymore. I think it is great to have all the information you would ever need or want in one place, it makes life easier. That is the whole point in advancing technology, is to make life better and easier.
