Career talk

I'm attending Macon State College this summer to work toward my major in Math. Along with a Math major I plan to seek an education major for both early childhood, and high school. I picked both of these majors, for two different reasons. Ever since I was old enough for people to ask “What do you want to be when you grow up? "' my answer was always the same “I want to be a math teacher.". I've always had this deep love and appreciation for math, and I love helping others learn math. I can't really explain why I like it so much, I just do. As you know I not only plan to major in Math education, but early childhood as well. That is really a new found love of mine. When I turned 16, I got a job at Belles and Beaus Christian Learning Center, and I absolutely loved every second of working there. (I had to quit a few months after my 17th birthday to play softball for my high school) By the time I turned 17, I had decided that I wanted to own my own daycare.  I still have my love for Math, and teaching others Math. So when it came down to thinking about college and my career choice, I made up my mind, I would just do both. I knew I didn't want to be in school for a long time, but getting more than one major was sure to take longer than my friends. So I made up my mind at the beginning of Senior year (Aug. 2011); I was going to start college in summer, and just go until I completed everything I needed for both my careers. After college is over, I'm planning on teaching for 3 or 4 years, so I will have enough money saved and I can open my daycare. I plan to open the daycare during the summer, when school is out, so I can focus on that. Then of course, I'll have everything running smoothly by August, so I will be able to continue teaching. I have big plans for my future, and I believe I am taking to right steps in preparing for my career.
