College
In today's job market a college education is needed. You need a college education because it is hard getting jobs now-a-days. With a college education it is easier to get a job because you are more qualified. college graduates make about a million more than high school graduates. With a degree people are seen as better than others. They are more well rounded, due to the core classes they had to take, and they are also more knowledgeable about certain things. Over all a college education will look better and help you more in the job market.

bumper stickers
When driving around town you see a lot of bumper stickers. One that has really stood out to me was "ever notice that everyone who supports abortion has already been born?". I'm not really sure why I like this one, I thinks it is because it points out the obvious while also giving people a different perspective. I like things like that, I'm the type of person that doesn't really care for people who have no common sense. Personally I'm not really for or against abortion, I'm actually both. I am against it for myself, I would never do it, I just couldn't willingly kill my own kid. But for other people it is different, I wouldn't be okay with it if they just didn't want the kid, but if the girl was raped, then I believe it is acceptable.

Casey Anthony Murder
The first I heard about this case was only yesterday, a few co-workers where discussing it at work, and I asked what they were talking about. They then went on to tell me it was about this girl who killed her daughter to go party. This personally shocks me greatly. Then this morning on MSN there was an article about the trail ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43623930/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/?gt1=43001 ), the jury hasn't come up with a verdict yet. The article goes on to talk about the case, for those who didn't watch it on the news. When first hearing about it i thought it was absolutely awful, and then to read the jury didn't make a decision?!? That seemed crazy to me. However I got a new look on it when reading the article, I still think it is absolutely awful to kill your daughter to go party, but there isn't any proof she did kill her, there isn't proof she didn't either though. I understand now why they haven't made a decision, it is a big one, and it will affect many lives it would be nice to be sure you made the right one. I'm not sure if I believe she killed her daughter or not. I do know that lying about several things makes her look guilty, but it doesn't mean she is. She has a lot of things against her: her partying, the smell in her car, and her constant lying (to name a few). Being a liar, parting, and having the odor of death and a strange stain in your trunk (which can't be proved it is or isn't the daughters and there was a bag of rotting trash with maggots in it) doesn't make you a murder; it makes you some who parties, lies, and someone who should put trash where it belongs. I am in no way saying she isn't guilty, but looking at the evidence that was mention in the article it is understandable why she wasn't immediately found guilty.

Stem Cells?
When I first read "Should the federal government fund stem cell research?” the first thing I had to do was find out what a Stem Cell is. I had heard the name before but to me it was just some sort of cell. According to Stem Cell Basics (http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/basics1.asp), Stem Cells are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division that can be induced to become tissue- or organ-specific cells with special functions. What all that means is that a Stem Cell is really any cell the body needs. With that being said, I think the government should fund the research. Since Stem Cells can make themselves any cell the body needs wouldn't that be enough reason to fund the research. We could find out what takes place during human development, how exactly they change to become the cells needed, and most importantly Stem Cells can be used to test new drugs. Also if someone needed new cells we would be able to generate the cells needed. For example, it may become possible to generate healthy heart muscle cells in the laboratory and then transplant those cells into patients with chronic heart disease. (Stem Cell Basics).Who knows maybe the research could lead to a cure for cancer. You can not really be sure what you will find unless you to the research. The government is supposed to be "for the people" well if there is any possibility that Stem Cell research could save people, then there should be no doubt but to fund the research.

Internet
The internet also known as the world wide web, is said by Nicholas Carr to cause distraction and makes us stupid while Steven Johnson believes it to be a great break through. I am with Steven Johnson. He clearly makes his point that most ideas come from the collaboration of two ideas, which i agree with completely. One can have their own ideas yet it is when others get involved and give their input do those ideas become better. The internet is a way of connecting with people, researching, and getting the latest news. There are distracting pages on the internet, but the distraction is a good thing it can lead you to a new idea you never thought about or give you incite on another idea. Every page on the internet makes you think in some form, and if you’re thinking then you can't be classified as stupid. Humanity has come a long way from the printing press to the internet, to say the internet makes one stupid is not justifying it. I think it is great to have so much information at your fingertips. To the older generation it seems ridiculous to go to the internet to get information. They would rather you go find a book. That is because that is how they were raised. For me, I was raised with the internet, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with it to me. Needing to know something or even to get a different perspective on my idea or an idea i heard going to the internet is normal and great. Every day the world gets more advanced, and soon the need for books is going to die, after all we are already getting those electronic book readers and there isn't a need for a real book anymore. I think it is great to have all the information you would ever need or want in one place, it makes life easier. That is the whole point in advancing technology, is to make life better and easier.

Immigration law
I wasn't aware that GA had a new immigration law, and when first hearing this I thought "oh, that is good". Since I didn't know anything about it, I looked it up on the internet. I got several articles that came up and I started to read one by one. The more I read the more I disliked this law. I am all for lowering the number of illegal immigrates and helping public services go to the tax payers, but the way this law goes about it, just is not right. If a taxi/cab/bus/MARTA driver is pulled over/caught driving illegal immigrates they are fined or sent to jail with the immigrates. Even a legal teenager driving his/her illegal mother to the store is now a criminal. I do not think it is right at all to punish someone for doing their job or even a teenager helping his/her mother. I also do not believe that they should be held responsible for these people, how are they supposed to know if their passengers are immigrates or not. "It may be unkind, but it doesn't make it (the law) unconstitutional," said Orland. "Sometimes the law is harsh."; that statement is completely true, but it is also true that the people make the law and people have no right to be unkind and harsh to others, illegal or not. I think that we should have new immigration laws, but they should be thought about carefully, and not punish others for doing what they do to make a living. I'm sure someone can find a way to lower the number of illegal immigrates without hurting the community and lives of the people of GA.

Marriage/Divorce
I strongly believe in marriage just as much as i believe in divorce. However, personally, I would never get divorce. I'm sure many people who are divorced now, probably said the same thing, but there is a difference between me and them; I would never marry someone I wouldn't love for the rest of my life. Marriage is a big commitment, and it isn't to be taken lightly. In some ways I have seen both sides, my dad was married 5 times before he met my mom, and my mom was married once (and had two kids) before marrying my dad. I've watched several of my cousins get married, and a few get divorce. When I say I believe in divorce, I only believe it is right if the two people no longer love each other. Some people get divorced because they fight too much or are considered with bills and get stressed so they blame the other. People get married when they love each other, so divorce should only happen if they no longer love the other person. Love is strong enough to endure any fight and endure any amount of money. If you truly love someone, fights won't matter, and the amount of income and disposable money shouldn't matter either. I am a firm believer in people have the right to do whatever they want, without other people getting in their way, or judging them. If someone wants a divorce, I wouldn't tell them that it is not right or try to convince them not to. I'd just accept it as it is, and that would be that. Getting married or divorce is a choice; some people don't have that choice. So it should be taken serious and be given thought, but no one should tell you what to do or how to live your life. Make it your choice, after all that is what it really is: It is YOUR choice.

Education
Before I became enrolled at Macon State, I attended Warner Robins High School. I absolutely loved every minute of it. I would say that my education at Warner Robins High was adequate to prepare me for college. I believe that to be true not only because of the school itself, but because of the classes I chose to take as well. Throughout high school I was enrolled in all honors courses and during my senior year I had some AP classes as well. To get an adequate education, that will prepare you for college, it is not only the school that has to do that; You, yourself, have to work your best, take classes that are harder and more demanding, and really give it your all. If you don't do your part you will never have an adequate education. Warner Robins High is a part of an excellent school system and also has very great teachers; the education I attained by attending Warner Robins High is none the less superior to that of other high schools. I personally wasn't one of those kids that sit in the back and sleep all class. I was more of the one that sat up front or in the middle, and did all my work. I knew I needed to focus on school, I have seen firsthand what happens when you don't really care about school, or you don't care enough to go to college. It is a lot harder the second time around. I did my part to receive the education I needed and Warner Robins High definitely did their part. I have a lot of school pride, and I know that Warner Robins teaches to a higher level, and works every day to ensure the students enrolled there receive everything they need to excel not only in college, but life as well.
